After my epic West Coast roadtrip last year, this year I will be “staycationing” and probably snatching a weekend here and there in different places. I’m looking forward to heading to Bath in March and there is talk of a girls weekend to Donegal.
I like doing things in style and came across The Irish Landmark Trust’s website which allows you to rent historic properties to make a stylish getaway!

Nestled in the coastside village of Glenarm, in the stunning Glens of Antrim, The Barbican was part of the home of the sixth Earl of Antrim, Randal William McDonnell. As he had no sons, his estate was left to his three daughters and his eldest daughter Anne and her husband Sir Harry Vane Tempest (what a fab name!) set about turning the family home into the castle (Read the story here)
Now you can be Queen or King of the Castle for a weekend!
I’m wishing I was walking beside the sea, visiting the waterfall in Glenariff Forest and sitting beside this fire in the Barbican reading David Starkey’s biography on Elizabeth I.
Where would you make a stylish getaway to?

I would like to be by the sea too! As I am smack back in the middle of the UK, there is not much sea around!
Drop what you are doing and treat yourself to a wee day beside the seaside this week
