The Civil Wars are a duo made up of Joy Williams and John Paul White (if Johnny Depp and Jack White had a son this would be what he would look like), based in Nashville. Their music is a haunting mix of folk and country which is simple, exquisite and beautiful. I have no memory of how I came across their debut album, Barton Hollow, but it is well worth adding to your collection. Now they’re Grammy-award winning artists.
